Data Scientist (f/m/x)

Hamburg, Germany / Lisbon, Portugal / Partially Remote is Possible

Who we are?

We are, a young company based in Hamburg, Germany and in Lisbon, Portugal. We are an international team of engineers, computer scientists, experts in Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) – with many years of experience, and a strong background in engineering.

Our vision is to save resources for a more sustainable planet. Therefore, we defined our mission to make machinery more efficient through predictive maintenance. Here we focus primarily on renewable energy generation.

We offer end-to-end software solutions for renewable energies. Based on profound domain knowledge, advanced machine learning and sophisticated IoT-techniques we predict future problems in the machines to make renewable energy more competitive to conventional energy generation.

Your Responsibilities

  • Work together with Data Engineers on the implementation of data preparation pipelines
  • Use machine learning and deep learning techniques to create scalable solutions for predictive
    maintenance and computer vision problems
  • Develop new tools using cutting edge technology focusing on efficiency and automation
  • Develop processes, techniques, and tools to analyze and monitor model performance while
    ensuring data accuracy
  • Deploy the developed models on-premise and on the cloud
  • Coordinate with various technical/functional teams to implement models and monitor results
  • Work closely with the software development team to jointly develop stable software tools
  • Set up and maintain cloud architecture and setting up and maintaining notebook servers (e.g.
Jupyter) linked to different instances on the cloud (AWS, Azure, etc.) or on premise
  • Analyze raw data: assessing quality, cleansing, structuring for downstream processing
  • Design accurate and scalable prediction algorithms
  • Collaborate with engineering team to bring analytical prototypes to production
  • Generate actionable insights for business improvements
  • Collaborate with colleagues from science, engineering, and business backgrounds

Your Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in data science, computer science, engineering, mathematics (or
comparable field). At least 3 years of experience in Data Science

  • Team player mentality & pro-active personality

  • A background in reliability theory and Predictive Maintenance

  • Fluency in English is a must. Language skills in German, Portuguese and Spanish are a plus

  • Basic knowledge of the Renewable Energy industry

  • Experience in Python (with all basic libraries: at least pandas and scikitLearn)

  • Experience in working with very large data sets and parallel processing (e.g., Spark or Hadoop)

  • Very good theoretical & practical knowledge of common machine learning algorithms (basics:
    random forests, boosting algorithms, etc.)

  • Good theoretical & practical knowledge in neural networks, deep learning, and convolutional neural
networks and their implementation in Python (e.g., Keras, etc.)

  • Very good knowledge on statistical testing, model evaluation, etc.

  • Experience with ML/AI model deployment and maintenance

  • Cloud computing & cloud architectures – setting up Jupyter servers linked to different instances on
    cloud or on premise

  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes

  • Cloud computing on AWS/Azure

  • Fluency in a programming language: Python (is a must), C, C++, Java, SQL

  • Deep understanding of predictive modeling, machine-learning, clustering and classification
    techniques, and algorithms

We Offer

  • Strong focus on R&D
  • Freedom to develop & implement your own ideas and learn new things
  • A fast-paced, dynamic environment with flat hierarchies in which you can put your skills to the test
  • The opportunity to become part of a young team that is redefining the Renewable Energy market
  • Office in the heart of Lisbon
  • Home Office partially possible
