The Philippines is an archipelago made up of 7,641 islands with the total length of the coastline: 36,289 km. The unique location and environment enable high potential of wind energy that provides energy developers with great opportunities.
During the last decades the energy demand has been rapidly rising due to population growth. The Philippines is trying to meet this demand with green energy, having more than 47% of the total energy consumption coming from renewable energy sources. The report forecasts that the Philippines can develop additional 7,404 MW of wind energy capacity before 2030. However, there are many challenges on this path! Some of them ANNEA is able to help with.
On the 14th of December 2021, ANNEA Founders Dr. Maik Reder and Marcel Frenzel spoke to members of the Wind Energy Developers Association of the Philippines (WEDAP) about challenges for the wind industry concerning O&M, the available (innovative) strategies and, relevant considerations. They presented the solutions ANNEA can offer. For example,
- predicting failures on turbine or component level and offering detailed maintenance recommendations;
- detecting asset underperformance and suggesting actions to optimise energy outputs.
Several case studies were shared to illustrate the real-world (anonymised) results some of ANNEA’s clients attained.
The webinar was concluded with a Q&A, where the participants exchanged valuable information and insights, and Maik and Marcel were able to further elaborate.
Many thanks to WEDAP for having ANNEA!
